Hi

We are trying to test Avaya 3641 Wireless phones with Enterasys.

I configured a Test voice VNS, trying multiple combinations.

I cannot get the phone to even see the Test wireless network.

There was no option for Avaya phone, only 2 choices for Spectralink phones, Spectralink or Spectralink 8000, engineer wasn't sure which one. I tried both and no go.

The phone reseller is not any help with letting me know what parameters I need for the Voice VNS.

They are not even sure how to configure the phone. The engineer left me with the phones and said I could download the Avaya HAT program to try myself. After spending 6 hours watching him
read Avaya documentation.

I'm running the latest Enterasys wireless code.

If someone has experience with Avaya and Enterasys, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks
Lorna

Hi

If your phone is not able to "see" the Test wireless network, this is a general problem caused by the phone or a configuration error on the controller.
The feature "Suppress SSID" under VNS Configuration -> WLAN Services -> Advanced must not be selected.
The Options like "Spectralink" are related to wireless QOS and have no impact on the general connection to the Test SSID.

Are other devices like your smartphone or laptop able to "see" the Test SSID?

Regards
Tony

You really have to use the HAT program. It's the best way to get the phones to work. We have the exact same setup and have 3641's on our wifi. The best way is to cradle the 3641 and use the USB connection to HAT. Thumbing through the settings on the phone is a nightmare.

Thanks,
Reese

Hi

Yes, I have my laptop connected to my test SSID using the same credentials I am using for the phone.

I think because the phone is displaying the wrong date/time, it can not authenticate. The NPS server log is showing "unknown user name or incorrect password was used. Does anyone know
in the HAT program do you configure the date/time and/or NTP server.

Thanks
Lorna
