Have you solved your problem yet?
First, please check the release notes when upgrading firmware.
In this case, especially this may be important to you:
Direct firmware upgrades to 6.61 from 6.03 (and previous) images may result
in the loss of some configuration. It is recommended to upgrade to 6.42
prior to loading 6.61. Alternatively the configuration may be saved to a
file and reloaded after upgrade.
It's strange that no mode at all seems to be advertised from the remote switch.
What does
show lldp port remote-info ge.1.23-24
say?
Are you sure nothing is plugged into the RJ45 ports 23 and/or 24 when using
the SFPs?
